bmstallOne criticism that is sometimes directed at acupuncture is that its effectiveness has not been proven through clinical trials. However, this is a misplaced criticism. A great deal of  research has been done into the effectiveness of acupuncture despite the difficulties of carrying out such research when compared with drug trials.

On this page, a number of papers are listed with links. These are dry, scientific papers, and any reader should be aware of this before attempting to read them.
